John 6:29 is one of my favorite Bible verses, especially when it is translated by God's Word Of Freedom -- "Jesus replied to them, 'God wants to do something for you so that you believe in the one whom he has sent.'"

We, finite human beings, have the tendency to ask, "What does God want us to do?"

But the verse shows, it is God actually who wants to do something for us!

And what does He want to do for us?

Not to make us famous in this world, not to make us materially prosperous, nor to make our life free from all our problems.

It seems He is not concerned so much for our convenience and comfort in this age, but to BELIEVE in the One whom he has sent.

"In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake. For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ" (2 Cor. 4:4-6, KJV).

I realize that on my own I could not remove the veil on my eyes (nor on the eyes of others), so I could really see the glory of Christ -- the Beauty and Majesty of God. Thus, the material things in the world, or whatever things that would appeal to the physical senses (or human reason) is more attractive.

It is God Himself, who let the light to shine in the darkness in the beginning, could make our spiritual blind eyes perceive "the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ"! It is not just our human will that would enable us to find Him admirable.

We could not be attracted to God just by deciding or saying that we choose to be interested in Him!

Jesus Christ Himself said in John 17 in His prayer, that He would make known the Father and would continue to make Him known to the elect.

What a great a wonderful privilege if God would make His Light shine in your heart -- to have a glimpse of His Goodness or Beauty and be captivated by His Glory!
