It all started when i went to live with my aunt (my dad's older sister out of 9 children), She is a teacher and has a PH.D in Child Psychology, My grandparents on my fathers side where very poor, but 6 out of 9 children are professionals and have a career, regardless of the hardships and obstacles they encountered. At the time i went to live with my aunt i was 8 years of age, I went to school in the mornings and in the afternoons she would take me to school again with her because she would teach an afternoon class. The kids she would teach where of different ages but they had one thing in common: they didn't know how to read. Everyday i would help out once at a time to work on their alphabet, letter recognition, and simple words until they could read a full sentence. (this took place in Mexico) At the end of the year most of the children could read a full paragraph by themselves without stuttering. On my 9th Birthday, I invited them all to my party, at the end they all came and thank me for helping them learn to read. Seeing in their eyes the achievement and the goal they had reach made me proud of myself, and for that moment on i knew that I wanted to be a teacher, I wanted to make a difference in a life of others, a role model, someone who can show them love, respect, and at the same time to prepare them for the future :). I want to become an educator to make a difference is a child's life, to be one that can tell them they are special and to make them feel love and important to our community. To let them know that they too can make a difference in the world. Even if i don't make a big impact in this world, i can start out small, and it all begins when that child enters my classroom.
