This is a rare & important American Vermont early 19th century life size, cast iron dog made at the Gray Iron Foundry in Poultney, Vermont circa 1835-1845. This rare piece is in superb condition. There is no damage to head, tail or body, no repair, replacement, nor screw holes into feet. This very fine example is similar to a matched pair which flank the entrance to the Bennington Museum in Bennington, Vermont. This lovely example has survived in a superb state of preservation. Lovely patina painted black. Height: 29 1/2" Length: 48 1/2" Overall Excellent Condition
